TV output - white shows color change

I'm running an 8500 to my TV for DVD's, emulators, etc. One thing I've
noticed is if I have any large areas of white on the screen, some parts
show a slow change to green blotches. I'm connected via the S-video
cable, and the contrast/saturation are at the defaults (100%).
Anyone else seen this effect on a regular tube TV? Is it a setting I
need to fiddle with, a problem with the TV, or just a side-effect of
the saturated video input (regular TV would never have an all-white
area as long as it takes the blotches to appear).
