Hi, I'm going soon for some days to a place with no internet connection and
I really need some quick help because I have to be able to work a bit while
I'm there.
I have an iPAQ 1945 and a Sony Ericsson T300 cell phone. Both have infra
red ports. And my T300 can access the internet.
Is it possible to use the phone's internet connection with my iPAQ? I mean,
connect my iPAQ to internet through the phone's connection?
Thanks in advance!

You can create a new connection, select Generic IrDA as modem.

If you're using GPRS, contact your mobile operator for the number, it should
be *99# or *99***1# (where 1 will be the CID defined on your mobile phone).
You might need a Init String, again check with your operator.

You can dial-up to any data number, but in this case speeds will be no
greater than 9.6kbps (or 14.4kbps) depending on CSD configuration on your
network. Also this will be charged by the minute.

Thanks Mauricio!
I need a bit more help :o)
It is a GPRS connection. But I'm not familiar with CID. How do I get that?
And what does it mean?
Thanks!

If you're able to access the internet on your cellphone it's already
configured. CID is the configuration on your mobile. Try with *99# to use
the default. Sometimes the default allows only access to WAP gateways. If
you can't access anything, try changing to *99***1#.

I recommend downloading VxUtil so you can do a PING from your Pocket PC and
check that you can access the network.

You might have to ask your operator for more information on configuration,
or post here the operator's name, so others can chip in.
