Accessing Protected files in old disk

My Windows OS got corrupted on my disk drive - the machine won't boot but
when the drive is put as a slave I can access all the files. However, I had
protected a directory with my old userid defined from the old machine and so
everytime I access that directory I get permission denied error. I have been
able to go and change the ACL on that directory and add my new user to it -
(somehow I have to do it twice per file)
Is there an easy way to get to all those files and be able to copy them out
of the old drive?

let me know
thank you
Jim.

when you say protected...is that using EFS...encryption? If that is so...the
only SID that can decrypt would be your old user account or old local admin
account...UNLESS you exported your key.

Thanks for the post Carey - this worked perfectly for me, and I was having a
similar issue to the person above. I was seriously afraid I had lost all of
that data!!
