I'm on dial-up at work, But I'll have a look when I get home... I used to love playing Mario, although I never had the original NES system but I had 'All Stars' on the SNES. 'Lost Levels' in 11 minutes would be more impressive  . (hell, Lost Levels at all is impressive!)

Of course now I prefer games where you can blow people's heads off with shotguns...

I beat DOOM in ~hour! Seemed so easy after all those FPS that came after. Remeber the first time I tried it 8, 7 years ago it seemed very hard. The cyber-demon was impossible.

I am guessing www.shaw.ca/xxxxxx gkamps maybe? Tried it, but to no avail.

Took me about 2 minutes. How big is the file?

I didn't watch it all, but skipped to see how he did it. Fairly possible, really, if you use the flute twice. You do need some mad skills though and personally, ruining the slow fun you have with old school games ain't my thing, so I didn't see it all.

Still nice though...

Erm, I was surfing on your site, damn, you don't look like you at all in the one pic with you (?) in it with your GF. What with the mustache and all.
Coulda sworn having seen other pics in the past...

And all those pics were included with the template. None of those are really me. It's entirely auto generated except for what the home page says.

Ooo... I didn't know you could get 1'ups by killing things continously one after the other. Yep, you learn something new everyday.

Guy has very impressive skills if he really did that.

Undeniable facts #45:
It's actually possible to screw yourself.

Reply to Woodman

It was always doable. Try it in Mario World, it is quite easy when you have the star. In Mario Lost Levels, one level starts with a turtle with which you can kick to get lives.
Additionally, in Mario 1, the best trick, if you get it right, is at the end, at the stairway to the flagpole, when you get a turtle coming down in some levels: Jump on it, but at the end of the stair. If timed you right, you will continuously jump forever by kicking it back and forth and get lives. It's then easy to reach over 100 in a few.

yeah i remember that trick, i took some practice to get use to but once you learnded how to do it, you could do it evrytime. The funny thing is the guy on the film didnt even need but one life.

The interesting thing about Lost Levels was how many levels there were in extra, but also the weird random (?) trick that occurs when you beat the number world, and reach world 9, one that is Effed up badly, like you swim in the water with turtles, pipes, and the flagpole too. You also fight Bowser outside with the castle song, weird!

Definitely an awesome game, but damn hard in the letter levels. C-4 always was annoying, and those where you need to take the right path to cross to Bowser are truly annoying.

Heh, I dunno how good the Macromedia suite is.
I use ImageReady from Photoshop. I've always wondered if Macromedia has products that really compete in the image retouching and editing sector.

True, they master Flash like no one, and Flash is vector all the way, but still...for vector graphics I wonder, and for bitmap too.

Say, did you take some courses on these or something?

heh a few courses way back when i believe in '97? And really just read books and fooled around with it after that. I guess im old skool and actually like to write out the code instead of using and editor, that is why i dont do it much. Time conmsuming. Yet fun.

Macromedia actually has some really great programs in the suite its just you kinda gotta get used to them first. Never used imageready, but now that yo mention it i might have to take a look and see what it can offer.

IR is Photoshop's bridge to web design.
Basically it has the basic rollover functions, using your layers and all, animation possibilities, and slicing or imagemapping. It has some more tools and features many PS features (often hidden elsewhere or vice-versa), but I like the easy slice optimization palette to optimize every slice you do.
Definitely a good program (it is connected to PS no matter what) and you can switch back and forth too.

I can't wait next year to delve into Flash MX (hopefully the college budget will get the MX 2004 suite) and Director MX. It could prove to be interesting.

The first level was hard by the normal standards, let alone the Letter levels..

I seem to remember being stuck on the 5-4 castle for ages. I think I used over 30 credits on that world.

I reckon I could probably still do the first half of that level blindfolded.
