  1. The only way to move from 64-bit to 32-bit is to re-install Windows completely. Which software are you having trouble with?
  2. Uninstall and reinstall. What software are you having issues with and will it not work in 64-bit, even with compatibility mode?
  3. Windows 7 has XP mode. Microsoft download with instructions: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx
It works well inside of Win 7-64 bit. To me, it's a better alternative to going back to a 32-bit system.
NOTE: Virtualization must be enabled in BIOS.
  4. you need to have pro, ultimate or, enterprise to get the xp mode!
