encrytion on xp home

Is there a way encrypt files in XP Home SP2 like in XP Professional? In XP
Home, when you right click on any file, click 'Properties', then the
'Advanced' button under the 'General' tab, the checkbox 'Encrypt contents to
secure data' is greyed out. So obviously XP Home supports the encryption. But
why can't I encrypt anything?

EFS (Encrypting File System) is not included in Windows XP Home Edition.
That's one of the reasons Home is cheaper than Pro. You could buy Pro and
upgrade your Home install to a Pro install.

The reason is simple: Support for encryption (EFS) is one of the
differences between XP Home and Pro. You can see the grayed out checkbox
because XP Home is just a crippled version of XP Pro (besides the fact some
files are missing in XP home the main difference is jus one registry
entry...). There are several ways known to make a XP Home act like XP Pro
(search google for xp homepro).
