Mirrored screen on Asus Mypal A620BT using Microsoft Theme..

I've heard about similar issues but with some older iPAQ models. But it was
a hardware failiure - not connected with any software. I have no idea if it
could be the same problem... but in that case there was no home solution of
solving this.

I have an Asus 620 and had no problems (apart from getting any email
response from Asus).

After a hard reset you should be back to out of box condition, but the Asus
has a CF slot that autoboots unless you uncheck the option- anyhow, remove
any CF card as it may interfere with your startup. Make sure you are hard
resetting, not soft resetting. I don't think how to hard reset is in the
Asus manual
