I posted a similar message in Access NG with no response. Perhaps the problem
is in WindowsXP and not Access. See bleow.

I am using Acess 97 and WindowsXP Pro. I've checked the permissions for my
user in XP so I think the problem has to do with Access 97. (I've also
checked the file properties of the files involved, but found no restrictions
-like "read only".

I created an application that I split into FE and BE files. Everything has
been working fine until today. I recieved a copy of the BE from a user which
I saved to my desktop from within Outlook. I opened up my FE file and was
able to refresh the table links. However, since that I have not been able to
run the link manager because of an error message saying I did not have access
to the directory containing the FE file????

I have not implemented any security measures, but scrolled through the
settings and found nothing restricting my access. I've even rebooted twice,
tried moving the files to another directory, but I keep getting the same
message.

Whenever I right-click on the sub-folder containing both files the
"Read-Only check box has a green square inside. (I assume this means that
some files are read-only, but not how.) I've tried turning off the read-only
attribute for all files and folders, but the green square reappears when I
recheck the properties???

Please help. Thanks in advance!
