Error Message/Crashing

My computer runs in cycles of going fast, and then going slow, and eventually
crashing. I have windows xp with SP2. I dont know why. I have McAfee
Antivirus+firewall, i run Spybot and Adaware. I get messages like these like
the ones below when my computer crashes.

As you can tell, parts of the error signature are the same, but parts are
different. I read another post with a similar error code and it was
attributed to malware. I do drop my firewall sometimes when I play games.

Do not do this, ever. You are asking for trouble. If a service, or software,
wants me to disable my firewall, I politely tell it to go pound sand.

I'd do a full scan for malware using various detection tools (MS
Antispyware, latest versions of Spybot & AdAware) and a full AV scan. Also,
make sure you've got your data fully backed up, as you may find a clean
install in your future (it's sometimes faster than figuring out why X, Y, or
Z happens - I tend to take the blunt force approach if a little bit of
investigation yields no success). And you should be backing up regularly
anyway.....

I suggest you also post in m.p.security.homeusers for more help with issues
like this. You should get a lot of advice - and I suspect it will also
include "Do not disable your firewall" ;-)

Thanks, i used MS Spyware removal thing and followed the directions in a
forum to get rid of it, my computer is going fast again. yay!

Glad to hear it. Now leave your firewall enabled! ;-)
