have an Asus P4B & a Matrox g450 etv. The Matrox supports 4x agp, as
does the P4b. But when I examine using sandra i'm told

SiSoftware Sandra

AGP Bus(es) on Hub 1
Version : 2.00
Speed : 2x 66MHz (132MHz data rate)
Maximum Data Transfer Rate : 4x
Multiplier : 1/2x
Fast-Writes Enabled : No
Fast-Writes Support : Yes
Side Band Enabled : Yes
Aperture Size : 64MB
Tip 2525 : Current AGP data rate not optimal.

I'm running jumperfree & have set the bios for 4x. Any jumpers on the
Matrox?

any ideas?

Try running Matrox's tweak utility (available on their website)
and set the card to 4X.

If that does not work, try PowerStrip from Entech Taiwan

Thanks guys but no luck

tweak lets me go to 4x but reverts to default (2x) either after the
realtime or reboot.
entech changes to 4x but my machine hangs with frozen cursor

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. There's s*d all difference in performance
between 2x and 4x AGP for a card of this sort, so if it's working stably at
2x, leave it as-is.
