Hi,

I had an install of Windows XP Pro on a hard disk with 2 partitions. In
various places, I had some of my documents encrypted using Windows.
(When you right click on a file, select Properties, Advanced, Encrypt
content to secure data.

Last week, I accidently deleted the partition info on my hard disk but
managed to recover all the files successfully. I bought a new hard disk
and partitioned it in the same way, then recovered all the files to it
in exactly the same folders, that I didn't even need to reinstall
Windows.

The problem is now that all my encrypted files are not working. They
are not automatically being decrypted as they would normally be when I
login. All my user ID and Passwords are the same. The file names used
to appear in green before, signifying that they were encrypted, but now
they're in normal black text. Could this mean that Windows doesn't
recognise them anymore?

PLEASE HELP....REALLY NEED THOSE FILES!

You deleted the partition?
Were the necessary keys also on that partition?
They MUST be original and can not be recreated.
Using the same passwords, profile name etc, is not near enough.
Without the originals, your data is as good as gone forever.
See the links near the bottom of this page for ways to help prevent this in
the future:
