Can i keep windows mail when i upgrade to windows 7

I am considering upgrading from Vista to Windows 7 . Can I retain Windows Mail and settings or do I have to install Windows Live Mail?.

No, MS want you to use Windows Live Mail, it doesn't mean you have to.
You can use one of the free e-mail clients like Incredimail, which is the one I'm using.
Download it and install it on Vista, import the settings from Windows Mail, then use the Data and Settings Transfer Wizard in Incredimail, to export the data to a file for later retrieval in W7.
