Does Poscket Streets effectively work with a Bluetooth
GPS? I am told it does if I buy a GPS supporting NMEA
2.0 or higher. I am concerned as I have heard that there
is little to no documentation from MS on using GPS with
Pocket Streets.

Well there is little or no documentation because Pocket Streets does little
or nothing when paired with a GPS, of any sort. Pocket Streets is a great
electronic map. As you likely know it has no routing capability at all. You
can't even draw an electronic route on it like you could on a paper map.
You can find things quickly and it is quite accurate and well populated with
POIs in my opinion. None of that changes when you add a GPS. Basically
when you can get it to work, and that is sometimes a challenge, what you
have is all of the above, plus a dot where you are. That's it.
Buying a BT GPS to use with Pocket Streets is like buying an F350 to pull a
4x8 utility trailer.
That's not to say don't get a BT GPS, just set your sights a bit higher than
Pocket Streets as a mapping program to accompany it. Take a trip to
www.gpspassion.com for an idea of what's available and what folks say about
them. Personally I still like Mapopolis for use with my BT GPS.

I have a bluetooth GPS and pocket streets won't work with it. The device
requires com port 8 and pocket streets doesn't provide that option.

I believe MS fixed that in PS2004

On my iPaq 4355 when you go to set up a GPS for PS2004, the first thing it
does is turn on the Bluetooth Manager and looks for the GPS there (found my
HP BT GPS in about 5 seconds) if you cancel out of that, mine gives you Com
1,3,5 or 9 as Com choices.
