FireWire Port does not recognize Sony Camcorder on Win XP

Archived from groups: microsoft.public.windowsxp.video (More info?)

OS: Windows XP
Software: MovieMaker 2.0
Device: Sony DCR-TRV320 Digital8 Camcorder is not
recognized on Windows XP when plugged into FireWire 1394
port. Verified that the FireWire Card is okay and the
Cable connecting the Video Camera to Computer FireWire
port is okay. Seems like Windows XP does not recognize the
Camcorder when plugged into the FireWire port and turned
on to VTR. Any clues anybody? Thank you in anticipation.

It sometimes works only in playback mode with older cameras, if it works
    at all.
