Problems Saving MPEGs to DVD

I have a similar problem to Mark. When I try to copy a
home made video MPEG to DVD using NERO 5, it wont accept
it and says it can only accept unknown file formats
(bups, etc, which do not seem to be compatible with WMP,
RealOne, etc). Does anyone know a solution or a DVD burn
facility that will allow me to download MPEG to DVD?? (I
can copy to CD using the XP facility, but there's not
enough disc space on CD.)
