I have a webcam page on my site, and there is a link to a time-lapse AVI
file that you can click on directly. ( see
http://home.columbus.rr.com/rubbertoe/webcam/index.html )

On my current computer, clicking on the link causes Windows Media Player to
open, which then downloads and plays the video in the player itself. Now,
on this new computer that I am setting up - when I click on the link to the
AVI, it doesn't open Windows Media Player... instead, it just downloads and
displays the video in the browser itself. No matter what settings I change
in MSIE or Media Player, I can no longer click on an AVI link and get it to
load and display seperately in WMP.

This is annoying, because the video that I have on my webcam page is only
320x240. When I click on it with the new PC, it appears to open a WMP type
interface within the web browser itself - nearly full screen - which makes
the video almost unrecognizable. The only way to resize the video is to
actually resize the browser window.

If anyone has some tips, I'd appreciate suggestions on how I might get
http://home.columbus.rr.com/rubbertoe/webcam/video.avi type links to open
WMP instead of loading directly in MSIE. Fwiw, I've got nothing checked in
the "media options" section when the "media" panel is activated in MSIE.

Much thanks in advance...

Rob - aka - Toe.
