Hello,

I have asus p5n32-e sli which used to run on vista 64bit with 4gb ram. this was ok for about 4-5 years and all of a sudden it stopped. Now it will not accept more than 2 GB. no matter what slots i use or what sticks, all settings set on auto and nothing changed to cause this. It is really baffeling me as i built systems and cant even resolve this!! please help? Sticks are fine as tested by memtest.. board is fine. all slots are ok. reset bios and nothing. Now its running on Win7 as i needed the upgrade but the issue started on Vista 64 and passed onto Win7 64bit!!

I would suspect the motherboard or the chipset. It could be a hardware failure in either one. You should start by installing the latest firmware update for your chipset and bios and see if that helps. I would also run a "memory test" just to make sure my memory wasn't failing regardless what the result of swapping the sticks around showed.
