How to master/slave a HD?

This may be one of the stupider questions I've asked about computers,
but I am just too lost. Own 2 Maxtor drives, need to master one and
slave the other, I'm pretty sure as of right now they are both
master, because they are both running on 2 different computers. I am
trying to take one HD out of one omputer for simple file transfer to
the other. So Need to be able to slave one....any help would be
appreciated.

Most drives come with simple directions printed on the drive itself.

Yes. Typically one or two jumpers must be moved (unless your machine
is set up for cable select). www.maxtor.com should have further
information about your particular drive if the jumper positions
aren't printed on the drive.

You should be able to find instructions on one side of the drive or the
other. When the instructions refer to a "jumper," they're referring to
something covering a couple of pins. The diagram will show you where that
jumper should be to make that particular drive a master or a slave.
Sometimes a drive will be installed in a computer with no jumpers at all
because the setting for that drive being a master is to not have any jumper
at all. If you don't find any jumper on either drive, you can usually find
a few in computer tool kits.
