Hello,
I'm new to the group, and I need some help installing a WD80 in
conjunction with a new install of Windows XP (Home edition). Actually
the help I need, is refreshing my memory as to how to auto start the CD-
ROM so I can utilize the WD Data lifeguard tools from start/boot. I've
adjusted the (can't remember bios or cmos (whichever)) to read CD-ROM, A,
C. The CD unit is running but not reading the disc or the disc will not
auto start.
Thanks in advance.
Respectfully,
Ben

Normally, setting the system to boot from the CD-ROM drive first is all that
you need to do. (You also have to press the famous "any key" to choose to
boot from the CD when a message is displayed.)
If the system doesn't support booting from the CD drive, there is a utility
available for download to create a set of setup diskettes:
You shouldn't need it, but I mention it just in case.
You also shouldn't need the WD tools to simply install the disc. The XP
setup program can partition and format the disk. (It won't, however, format
a partition larger than 32 GB as FAT32. NTFS is the only choice.)
Have fun.

Thanks for the assist Bob.
I gleaned from the WD web site, that the bios may require an update in
order for it to handle the 80Gig drive. Now, I have to learn the name
and model of the motherboard.
It's hell to have friends who know nothing about computers. Especially
when you only know enough to get yourself in trouble!
Appreciate the help.
Respectfully,
Ben
