can anyone please tell me how I can separate the original
tape audio from the video. Some of the audio is great and
some really scratchy. I find that I can mute the parts I
don't want but for some reason now my entire audio track
has gone mute - even though the parts don't have the mute
activated.

Thanks

If you are using Moviemaker, then you need to make the section you want to
mute the audio on seperate from the rest of the track, so you trim the clips
in to pieces you want audio on and pieces you don't and mute the pieces you
don't want the audio on.
