Configuration issue with V2i Desktop

I have V2i configured to do a full backup from my workstation to my server
on Fridays and incremental backups for every other day. It appears that
after one week has past, the daily files are not getting over written. I
now have two full images created on two separate Fridays when in fact, I
want to over write the backups from the previous week.

At this rate, I will run out of storage space. Can anyone tell me how to
configure this so that at any one time, I never have more than 7 files
representing my daily backups?

TIA

I feel your pain.

I can't help you, but I have the same (sort of problem) I manually
backup to an external drive on my notebook. After a couple of times
where it just does the incremental, it decides I must want a new total
drive image (4 hours on the bus I have to use).

I was unable to find anything on the Symantec site of import. I sure
hope someone else has an idea.

There should be an option to limit the number of images kept for each
drive. If you set the limit to 1, it should delete the previous
weeks' image backup and associated incrementals. V2i won't overwrite,
it will sequentially number the images.

But I suggest you keep at least 2 image sets. If something screws up
during the second weeks' image, V2i has already deleted the first one.
and then you won't have any.

Oddly enough, Norton Ghost 9.0 has the same functionality as V2i
Desktop, so V2i Desktop may be on it's way out.

How about if you just want to keep adding incrementals after the
baseline i generated? My problem was it wanted to build a whole new
baseline, when all I wanted was to keep adding incrementals.

If you've set the schedule accordingly, then it shouldn't do that.
However, I've found that if I defragment my disk offline (i.e. defrag
the MFT, metadata, journal file, etc.), then V2i will build a whole
new baseline rather then just do its scheduled incremental. I don't
know why it does that. Maybe something similar is happening in your
system.

Thanks. Sounds like I may just have to dump it and try something else.
