there seems to be a problem with my resolution.
suddenly and with no changes to my system (that i know of)
e3verything seems to be on some very pathetically low
resolution. everything was working fine, and everything is
still set on the same settings that they were on before
this happened.

Basically, everything seems pixelated... espcially where
shadow lines meet. pink and grey dot appear here. it
effects just about everything. all my photos, all my
movies, even my desktop... but yet, my resolution is still
set on what i had it before. i at first thought it was my
monitor giving in, but when i tried playing a game that
uses my graphic card, there were no visual distortions at
all. back in windows, the pink and grey dots reappeared.

if any of you have a solution to this problem, i would
greatly appreciate it. the only thing that i can think of
is now, is that there must be some corrupted file on my
system that effects the visual display that does not rely
on my 3d graphics card. ... i take it its going to be
FORMAT weekend this weekend. hurrah. happiness

for interests sakes, i have a:
i have a 19" monitor, and a RIVA TNT2 64 graphics card.

please help

Do you have the necessary drivers for the graphics card.

Go to device manager and then uninstall the display drivers that is displayed. to do this right click on the monitor in device manager and then click uninstall.
you will be prompted to restart the computer.
now when the computer restarts windows will say that new hardware found and prompt you to enter the path for the cd. if the hardware is compatible then xp will supply its own drivers.
so insert the drivers cd and a window will appear which will show a menu item to install the drivers for xp. click it and follow instructions.

thanks M

i do have the correct drivers, and this i know because i
updated them recently... which now come to think of it,
could be the cause. i dont switch my pc off, and i
restarted the the day before yesterday, and that probably
when the distortion began, but i didnt notice them at the
time.

i'll try setting up the drivers again, this time using
only the windows default drivers for my card... that
seemed to work fine before the update that i made.

:D
