symbol ppt2700 help

i recently picked up a symbol ppt2700 unit
and i cannot seem to get it to sync with my windows xp system or any other
systems i have tried

i have done the uninstall reinstall active sync tango
but still no luck

anyone got any suggestions?

also tried the hard reset as well

serial connection
just norton it just says it can't find it
regardless of port settings
tried changing around com ports still no luck

ok norton system works 2004
com ports are on in the bios i have tried changing com ports one at a time
to com1 com 2 ect
i have no other serial devices installed currently
not sure how norton antivirus would interfere with a serial device but i
have seen stranger things happen so i will try that to
active sync tells me that what ever ports i have enabled in the bios are
available
it just can't find anything attached to them

if i had a infared port i could try that way but i don't have one on my
computer
maybe i will build one
or get a usb to serial adapter see if it makes a difference
