Hello everybody, I am a 27 yrs male with some extra fat. I desperately want to reduce my weight.. I began my weight loss journey with pills, excercise schedules, diet plans, etc. But so far i haven't achieved any reasonable benefits. So one of my friend told me to practice pro anorexia. Its something related to starvation for reducing weight. So I searched yahoo and found a pro anorexia website which rather warned not to practice pro anorexia. I actually want to know more truth & methods about pro anorexia. If anybody can help me, then I would be greatful.
Thanks in advance

just lose weight the normal way and run yourself to health... losing weight is about burning more then you eat... and starving youself isnt the best way since its highly unlickly your gona have the right diet especially when it comes to vitamins and minerals...
if your not losing weight it means one of two things: one you eat more then you should, or you just exercise less then you should...
just get 3-4 hours of workout each week devided in up to 4-5 sessions of about the same time, keep your regular eating habbits but just try to add a lot more water (between meals, to much liquids during meals just mess up your stomach acids)(since digestion almost doesnt occur there its not much of a problem, its just more of a passive natural defence against pathogens)
do this and at the 2º-3º week you should start noticing the diference...
By the way work out to lose weight isnt doing push ups or abs, its running, and sweating all that fat out of your pores...

Find an exercise you enjoy. I'm not overweight, but knew I needed to be more active. My balance does not allow me to ride a bicycle, but I found these: www.catrike.com. Not cheap, but loads of fun, and fast. If you'd prefer two wheels, you may find a recumbent bicycle more comfortable than a traditional diamond-frame, but they ARE more expensive. A good dealer will be happy to let you take extended test rides of any number of models.
As I have aged (50 this year), my "secret" to weight control has always been portion control. For example, I love chocolate chip cookies, but will only eat a few at a time. Perhaps the best thing you can do is eat slowly. It takes the brain 20-30 minutes to realize the stomach is full. Fast eaters are still packing it in during that time, so then they feel stuffed and miserable, with way more calories than they need.
Strength training will burn calories, but it also builds muscle, which is denser than fat. You'll be in better shape, but the scale may not show it. Aerobic training will burn calories without building lots of muscles, so is probably best for weight loss.
Good luck; I hope this helps.

As well as running / cycling / swimming and of course eating sensibly a lot of dieticians will recommend Green Tea - if you cant stomch the drink in ca be bought in capusle form. Green Tea is proven to speed up your metabolism. Though this is not intended to make you loose weight - it merely aids the process of digestion and hence gradual weight loss in conjunction with EXERCISE !!!

Losing weight is technically very simple as it is just making sure that you eat fewer calories than you burn. It is pretty hard to do in practice as starting an exercise regimen is daunting for many people, as is eating less food or different foods than they are used to. I would recommend going to see your family doctor as they would have the best advice for you to lose weight as they know your personal medical situation better than anybody you'd talk to here over the Internet.

The "pro-anorexia" stuff on the website is actually just straight-up anorexia. Anorexia is defined as being <85% of your ideal body weight due to a non-organic cause (read: not due to some medical condition). You don't look like you are emaciated unless you actually are emaciated. Starving yourself to less than your ideal body weight is NOT a good idea, particularly if you use methods like laxatives and vomiting like many anorexics use.

You want to lose weight, and lose it fast? First thing is prepare yourself mentally. Look at yourself in the mirror and say "I'm fat because of the decisions I've made leading up to this point" Then picture yourself how you want to look. Realize that with sweat and sacrifice, you can get there.

Diet- Plan on eating 7-8 small meals a day. You should eat primarly Chicken breast, tuna, shrimp (mostly high protien/good fats) for your protien, brown rice, oatmeal for your carbs. Lots of fruits and vegetables. especially green vegetables.

Exercise- HIIT. High Intensity Interval Training. What I like to do is bike. So on the exercise bike, I do half hour of it, 45 seconds as hard as I can, 1 minute at normal pace, 45 seconds as hard as I can, etc. The key is getting your heart rate up, and then back down. Keeps your body confused, and burning more calories.

Hope this helps, if you want anymore advice, PM me.

I don't think it's a secret that you need both diet and exercise.

I was a cross country runner and played baseball in high school and college. I started getting heavy into bodybuilding. Now I concentrate more on cardio. I think it's the well rounded exercise program that works the best. You need to burn and tone. I personally like to run 4 to 5 miles and always include a hard sprint at the end. Along with the cardio, it's important to sculpt the body with a variety of exercises including bench press, curls, push ups, lat pull downs, crunches.....

^all this is meaningless if you follow it up with 3 double cheeseburgers at McDonalds. I like to base my diet around peanut butter, tuna, oatmeal, and salads. What works well for a lot of people, is to keep a diet log.

I'm a doctor, i would absoloutely AVOID any type of radical starvation/exclusion type regime - yes you will lose weight, but in the long term you will become malnourished especially of trace elements and eventually ill as a result - the main reason is these are temporary solutions your weight will rebound when you stop.

The key is towards lifestyle change, small gradual increments - I used to weigh 72kgs when i cycled 30km every morning, my bike got stolen and in three years ive gained 30kgs.

A realisitic objective is to lose the weight at the same rate that you gained it - you may not want to hear that, but, the end goal means that if you spend several years making small sequential lifestyle adjustments, at the end of it all these are far more likely to be your usual habits and you will find it much eaiser to maintain them.

Specifics, people argue all day long about it being in the genes, metabolism etc, nonsense - you cant manufacture energy out of thin air, therefore

Calories In - Calories Burned = Weight Change

Two parts to this - reducing calories means eating less high calorie things - think fast food (once a month) fried meat (once a fortnight) and more filling low cal things - think salads and grilled chicken / tuna (lightly dressed). One big killer everyone overlooks is drinks - some fruit juices and especially soda/pop contains 200calories per measure thats 10% of your reccomended daily intake - go diet/sugar free or even better drink water.

Second part is exercise - the way ive approached this especially with a busy schedule is to identify the times im sedantry and then plan to do something, so now when i get home, instead of watching the news real for an hour, i do it on an exercise bike. other easy things to get into are swimming or even try a wii fit, just to get you into the routine of exercise and burning calories.

you should look into aerobic vs anaerobic excercise, most people say jogging and other aerobic excercises are effective for weight loss when they really arent, studies have shown that anaerobic excercise is much better for weight loss as it increases your metabolism for a longer period of time.

Examples of what you could do is instead of say jogging 1km, try sprinting 100m 10 times, that will be much more effective.

^ That's true to a certain extent.

The exercise needs to be balanced. A mix of distance and sprints is smart. Our cross country practices routinely started and finished with a hard sprint. But in between, we ran 4 - 10 miles. The overall cardio condition and calorie loss are the bottom line. You can sprint 10x100m, but if I run 10 miles I'm going to burn a lot more calories, fat, and have an overall better cardio condition.

A few things:

1) Anorexia is a horrible idea.

2) Regarding exercise.. mix it up and do it regularly. Changing things up every now and then and experimenting with different forms of exercise has definitely helped me maintain a strong interest in both physical and mental fitness. Try biking long distances, running short distances, hiking, swimming, lifting weights, martial arts, rock climbing, tennis, strecthing, yoga...

3) Be positive. Believe in yourself. I know it sounds kind of lame sometimes, but trust me... it works and feels much better than being negative.

WTF

Eat only three healthy meals a day and get a bike to ride EVERY DAY!
If you cant ride walk briskly or run if you can.

Make you own meals, stay away from resturants.

Cut back on ever thing that has added sugar and salt. Read the lables.

If you drink alcohol keep it at a minimum. It turns to sugar in you body.

Last but not least...Dont listen to your friend that recomends pro anorexia.

It's recommended to eat 6 or 7 smaller meals rather than 3 larger meals. It supposedly speeds up metabolism and shrinks the stomach/appetite.

Pro anorexia is a horrible idea. The best way is to eat a balanced diet and do a vareity fo exercise. Also when exercising make sure your heart rate is in your fat burning zone. This is around 60% of your max heart rate. Max heart rate is 220 minus your age. By keeping it in this zone you will burn more fat and lose that extra weight.

Hope that helps http://newcasltestudents.comuv.com/imgs/signature_smiley6.jpg
