The dvd drive does not recognise a blank dvd+rw disk.
I get a message "Please insert blank cd" although there is one already.

Windows does not have built in dvd writing. When it says put in a blank cd,
that is eactly what it means, not a dvd. You need products like Nero, and
many others.
