I heard that there is clone id on hard drive when ghosting.
I want to make ghost image without leaving clone id on hard drive.
Exactly same image as I installed xp and application from cd.

And what is ghost -fnf ??

"Ghost also puts a "fingerprint" on all drives imaged. To create an exact
copy, you must use the -FNF switch to disable the fingerprinting."

Where is this "fnf" switch documented? And how can
one turn on a switch when running ghost within Windows,
such as is done with Ghost 9.0 (previously Drive Image 7)?

Something tells me this is another urban legend, perhaps
spawned by Microsoft.

That's about Ghost 5.0 .

What did you find for Ghost 9.0 ? (And expand your wraparound
limit to the maximum so it doesn't truncate the URLs.)

I do not consider Ghost 9.0 as a Ghost product. Symantec should name it
DriveImage 9.0 or better yet, SymantecImage 9.0.

I tried to use -fnf switch. But it failed.
Unknown keyword or Usage error 19000

I used like this
ghost.exe -fnf,-clone,mode=dump,src=1:1,dst=d:\1111.gho

Is this right ?

Ghost 9 is just Drive Image. Never heard of anyone using command line
switches with it to do forensics. I just use Ghost 8 with -ir (image raw)
and -fnf when I want to do an exact copy with no fingerprint.

I think Symantec will be losing some business from the hardcore Ghost
fans.

Probably better now to just use DD or Encase.

You're absolutely correct - backwards compatibility with former *.GHO files
is a joke and merely slapping the face of the user!
