Hi

Hopefully someone can help me here....

my brand new HP Ipaq 2210 has developed a problem, here are the symptoms:

When in the cradle, the backlight works OK, but the four application buttons
do not work, I get the error message
"Cannot find 01Button.exe"

Also when out of the craddle the backlight will not come on.

If I go to Start/Settings/System Tab:Backlight and try and change the
baclight brightness I just get a beep.

Is this PDA beyond repair? Do I need to do a hard reset, and if so hoW?

Someone help me as I have my new GPS kitcoming torrowand want to play :-)

Thanks

Duncan

Sounds like there's something fishy going on there.
You can try a soft-reset first, this will retain
all your data and programs. If this doesn't help
then a hard-reset might help.. but that will clean
your iPAQ of your data. You can find the procedure
for your particular unit in the manual which is
located on the companion cd. typically it involves
pressing certain buttons at the same time..
If this doesn't clear the problem then you'll
have to send your iPAQ in for repair at HP.

Thanks for the quick reply

Do not know what happened to the Ipaq, but yep, RTFM and did a hard reset,
soft reset did not work and it works OK again.

what I did not know was that you have to TURN ON backup in ActiveSync !!!!!
So I had no backup, but then again nothing really important on it anyway.

I have come from the Palm world where backup is automatic !!!!

Cheers

Duncan

Glad it's working okay now, you're right about ActiveSync
backup not being enabled by default, this can be a pain
to discover at times like this..
