Hi. I was wondering if the windows defragmenter was good enough or if there was a better alternative. Thanks!

I like ultimate defrag- its high performing, used it for quite some time, and it does really well ..

PerfectDsk

Works great for me but it shows all the details and specs and timeframe etc. windows doesn't show you any of that and you can't tell what it's doing or when it will be done.

I use Diskeeper 2010 Pro on my XP desktop. Excellent utility that automatically defrags the drives when idle, and also prevents a lot of fragmentation.

There are a gazillion ones out there, but the 3 best FREE defrag utilities are

Auslogics Disk Defrag

Defraggler from Piriform

And IObit Smart Defrag

I have listed them in my order of preference. Depending on your requirement defrag your system disk (C:\ drive) every week to a month.

And please do not pay a dime to 'buy' a defragment utility.
