The video card is capable of sending resolution to the monitor which receives
and displays the resolutions.
Both need to be capable ,to work in sync...if the video card sends too high a
resolution the monitor will give you an error message...out of sync.If the
monitor is capable of very high resolution but the card is not you've wasted
money because you will never use the high resolution unless you buy a better
video card.
