Hi all,
I got a ipaq 2210 last week and an MSI bluetooth PC dongle and set up ICS to
allow my ipaq to connect to the Internet. All is well until I attempt to
login to Hotmail or Yahoo - then I get the following message: -
"You are about to leave an SSL-encrypted connection. It will be possible for
others to view the information you send.
Do you want to continue?
In the future, do not show this warning - Yes / No"
If I say yes, I don't appear to be using a secure connection. I am missing
something? I have tried googling for answers but I'm not getting very far. I
would like to access both services but I'm paranoid about what I might be
exposing to others.
Anybody have any suggestions?
TIA
Glenn

You'll get these exact same messages on a desktop machine
as those are general warning messages that you are
switching from secure (HTTPS) to non-secure (HTTP) sides
of a website. these are normal, Yahoo and Hotmail have
mechanisms in place that protect your login and password
through secure login pages.
If you don't see those messages on your desktop, that
simply means you turned them off in Internet Explorer.
As far as being paranoid goes, you're accessing webmail.
all you type and send is -displayed on your screen-, but
the actual data is retained on Yahoo/Hotmail's servers,
which are being monitored by Yahoo/Hotmail respectively.
Meaning, there are possibilities that someone there
can read your stuff but it's unlikely that someone will
spend time reading your stuff, they have better things to
do on the boss's time.
