When I try to view video codec properties in control panel under sounds and audio devices - the hardware tab...i get this error message

An exception occurred while trying to run "shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL "C:\WINDOWS\System32\MMSYS.CPL",@0"

I have no idea what this means. Does anyone know if there's a fix for this?

Some more information...after I okay that error message I get another message saying

Run a DLL as an App has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.

Then it asks me if I want to send an error report. Hope this helps
