I recently had a total data loss due to a battery low on my ipaq 2210.
I never got any signal about the battery level but when I plugged the 2210
into the main adaptor I was asked to calibrate the screen and to enter my
name....
Fortunately I had a one month old backup, so I was able to recover most of
my data but I do not understand how this is possible. I had in the past a
ipaq 3630 which could work a week before the battery was low.
With my ipaq 2210 I cannot spend more than 2 days without recharging.
Who could help me ?

JJ Golay.

Install the newest ROM update. There was a problem with SD card slot
draining battery when card is inserted - even in power off mode.

Is that issue only with 2210 or with some other models? (4150?)

Hi,
Thank you very much for your tip but I have nothing in the SD slot I only
use the CF slot where I have a IBM Microdrive.
Is the reasoning the same?
Thank you

I don't know. But if you experience fast battery discharging you should try
to install new update to your ROM.

A microdrive still draws current when not in use, around 20mA air.
(Around 250mA in use).

But not when the device is off. The MD should power down, just as it
does when removed from the slot.

I recomend you adjust the wait time (i'm not sure if this is the name in
english language) in configuration / system / energy and set a large value
if you don't plug the ipaq in a short time. Read the help for more
information about this.

This isn't the answer you expect but maybe can help you in another time.

I have a Wifi CF card and that seems to draw a current even when the 2210 is
off.  It would probably flattern the battery in 2-3 days.

Go with the updated ROM 1.1 for the 2200.  I could ping my 2200
with a CF ethernet card even after I powered off [that's bad].
Since the 1.1 update I can't [that's good].

A 2200 has a small battery, and odd as it sounds, power remains
on for the CF slot during a suspend (my LP-E net card keeps its
connection up, for example).  HP does have a big ol' battery
 for the 2200, PN FA197A (4.2V @ 3600 mAH, 4x the stock 900mAH).
