wmp 9 codec problem

i'm having a problem with watching videos in wmp. for
higher quality videos and svcd ones it plays the audio
but no video. it says error downloading codec and then
when i click on the error details it says it needs an
mpeg 2 codec. i installed PowerDVD cause i had read that
it helps, it helped at first but after playing multiple
videos it messes up again. i was hoping someone could
help me fix my wmp9 problem.
