does a notebook need its own antivirus or is it protected by pc av where it getting its wireless signal

Except you don't plan to use pendrives, external harddrives, memory cards and all sort of removable drives and internet, then you will do fine without an anti-virus

You MUST have anti-virus or internet protection on any machine that connects to the internet, or you'll have problems.

Check out Microsoft Security Essentials, it's free and works very good.

Avira, Avast, Microsoft Security Essentials and AVG are all free and highly rated ( although AVG just had some problems ) and will protect you as well as any paid solution.
