I am running Win 98 on a Compaq Presario 5170 computer. My cd-rom and
zip drives are no longer showing up in Windows Explorer or in My
Computer. When I try to open the CD Player I get a message stating that
there is no cd-rom player attached to the computer. When I put a cd in
it, I hear a sound as if it wants to start reading the disk, but it
never starts spinning.
When I put a Zip disk in the zip drive, the indicator light blinks and
i hear a slight sound, but nothing happens.
The floppy drives seems to work fine.
Any idea what is causing this problem?
