What is dxdiag.exe reporting that is telling you DirectX is the problem?

Hi

With my machine:

Ever since I installed this I have been experiencing
difficulty playing dvd's or any other video media. With
PowerDVD 5 it just hangs. With WinDvd 6 I get an error
cannot create overlay. Check blah, blah.
Checked everything and its ok, but still get same error
message. After dxdiag.exe I found out all 3d option are
unavailable and greyed out,
Vide card: ATI Radeon 9700 with 128 meg of mem.
I think it is an Window OS problem. I have been reading a
lot of post related to video problems since 9.0b release.

dxdiag is reporting everythink ok except for nvidia
driver not certified

to prove that its a directx problem i used an uninstaller
for directx9.0 which sort of uninstalled some files,
dxdiag still reporting everythink ok but looking at the
files in dxdiag there is a mix of version numbers now but
still reports that no problem and wont install directx
9.0c over the top as it says it says alread exists but
since the part uninstall of directx 9.0c WMP now plays
all divx files and nerovision express 2 now converts the
webcam images to dvd

so I am sure if i could force reload of directx 9.0c over
the top things would be ok
