I am having problems with XP and my Sony DCR-TRV828 camera.
I have used same camera and cable on friend's machine and his XP recognises
the camera (it pings and indicates that it is a sony DV camera) - so camera
and cable OK.
My XP knows something is connected - I get the 'ping' noise.
It detects new hardware, but asks for a driver.
The firewire driver (from device manager) is: "VIA OHCI Compliant IEEE 1394
Host Controller"
What is the problem? Where do I start?

Cheers,
Tracey

Check in network connections and and disable the firewire one if it's
enabled.
