I'm one of those people that doesn't like applications autostarting at
bootup unless I specifically want them to. One particularly annoying
application is Kodak's Easyshare and its associated tasks. I use
Windows 98se.
To prevent the Kodak software from autoloading, I use msconfig.exe to
disable KodakCCS, StillImageMonitor, Kodak EasyShare and Kodak
Software Updater. I then create a text file, say Kodak.bat, containing
the following three lines (watch the wordwrap):
If your software is located in different directories, then edit the
file accordingly.
Create a shortcut to Kodak.bat on your desktop. R-click this shortcut
and in the Program -> Properties ensure that "cmd line" and "working"
directory point to the location of kodak.bat. For example, the "cmd
line" may be "C:\utils\kodak.bat" and "working" directory would then
be "C:\utils". Tick the "close on exit" check box. To choose a
different icon, select "change icon" and point to an appropriate file,
eg C:\Program Files\KODAK\DC3200\dc32cap.exe (that's my old 1MP
camera). You could optionally choose a short-cut key combination for
kodak.bat, eg Ctrl-Alt-K.
