Hi folks
I have been storing my images (about 13gigs now) in different folders
for each event/occasion etc. After all these years it's now becoming
difficult to cope with and I would like to rearrange them into folders
by date, probably one folder for each month.
Does anybody know of software that could do this for me.
Thanks
Ceilidh

Hi

There are numerous commercial applications for this (just Google photo
albums) but there is also Adobe Photoshop Starter Album, which is available
free from
http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshopalbum/starter.html

Also check magazine cover disks as they sometimes have album software
(Digital Camera Magazine in the UK is a good source)

thanks for that. I tried Starter Album, it search by date, but no
automatic moving to new folders.
I use ThumbsPlus, which i find an excellent image manager, but it
doesn't have this feature either.
I don't need another image manager, just a small utility that will
automatically look at the all my old files and place in appropriate
folders by date.

What you are looking for are file utilities. Look for shareware file
utilities.
Maybe you can use the Command line utility Xcopy.

To find the commands for Xcopy on Windows XP. Start>Run. Type
Command<enter>. At the command prompt type "xcopy /?"<enter> without the
quotes. That is xcopy space slash, question mark then Enter.

These command line utilities in XP will not work correctly in a batch file.
They have to be typed on the command line.

Downloader Pro (www.breezesys.com) will do this, but as far as I can see it
bases it's dates on EXIF data. There's a free trial version available, so I
guess you could try it.

You should spend a little time with a good script editor.
There are thousands of them available, but one I recommend is NoteTab
Pro. http://www.notetab.com

Other solutions that come to mind are ASP, VB, Java.....
