Hi,
my 3 year old 1.3MP Jenoptik digicam has bust. I was using it yesterday
and took the flash card out to put it in my card reader - no problems. When
I came to put the card in I found it wouldn't go in as smoothly as possible,
so tried opening shutter to see if it was ok just using internal memory - no
joy, there is normally a little "beep beep" when I do this. I noticed that
the batteries / camera were incredibly hot - too hot to hold. Ive tried new
batteries but to no avail -its bust for good.
Wondered if any others had experienced the same? Maybe 3 years on a
relativel cheap digi cam is good going?
Needless to say i will be in the market for a new one - 3MP and 3X zoom -
cannon a70 seems to get good reviews. Any advice.

The voltage regulator has blown, not worth mending, the a 70 takes great
pictures but its painfully slow

John,
Before you give up on old faithful, get a light and magnifier and see if
something found its way into the card slot. If it's metal - perhaps a small
coin or a paper clip - that could be the problem, causing a short and
draining the batteries.
