I am looking to put a mapping software on my ppc. I would like it to do
the following:
1. be able to run from an sd card.
2. be complete on the ppc, not have to download maps to run.
3. not be a gps software. I am not interesed in it for now.
Anyone know of where I might find such and what the name of it might be?
Most mapping programs I have seen, have to download the particular map
to the ppc then you can "view" it. I don't want to do this. I want the
mapping software to stand alone on the ppc.

Maps of where, for what purpose? Hiking, Navigation, road maps etc, it's
difficult to answer such a wide ranging question unless you can provide more
information.

Probably the easiest and cheapest way to start is with PocketStreets
which is included in Microsoft Maps and Streets... check Sam's, etc and
look for rebates which can get the cost as low as the $20 range.
After installing the software, you run Maps and Streets software on your
PC and "pull a rectangle" around the area that you want to map and
export itto a ppc compatable file... which can be copied to either main
memory or storage card.
Hope this helps,
