Hello Everyone.
A few months back I managed to play HL2 all the way through until the end
without any problems. Suddenly now, as I manage to fight the attack where
I have to watch Alyx's back while she cracks into a generator on the
AntiCitizen One chapter, the game crashes and exits when I push the iron
gate in the tunnel under the broken bridge.
The error is something about some wood_board01a.mdl not being found and
some dll not being loaded.
Has anyone else come across this and would know what I need to do?
Thanks.

I dont know the address so the slightly longer way of doing this is .....
When you sign in to Steam go to News, then Support then search using the
word 'validate'. That will take you to a link where you can validate
your files and any that are corrupted (which it sounds like a couple of
yours are) will be automagically downloaded and replaced.

It's a bit of a jump isn't it? I mean, er, chartered accountancy to lion
taming in one go.
You don't think it might be better if you worked your way toward lion
taming, say, via banking...

Heh.
I had exactly the same problem. The files were NOT corrupted.
The solution: run the game again. I managed to continue and the error
hasn't appeared since. I suspect an update may have screwed up the code
somewhere.

Thanks Guys. Somehow by merely restarting Steam an update was finally
triggered. I don't know why it wasn't over the past few days that I had
switched my PC on and off quite a few times.
The problem must have been a previous update going haywire. Now, at last,
it's working again. Thanks.
