I've just "upgraded" my WinXP machine to SP2 and now if I try and play any
of my videos (mpg, wmv, dvd) that used to play perfectly well before I
"upgraded" to SP2, now get about 2/3 of the way through the video and then
go blank and all I get is the audio.

The videos play perfectly using PowerDVD so their is nothing wrong with
them.

I've seen a few threads about this on the net, but nothing conclusive.

Any help or similar experiences much appreciated.

Regards,

Kiwi.

The video goes blank, not the whole screen.

mplayer2.exe playes the videos ok.

Problem exists with WMP 9 and 10.

XP comes with WMP8 and worked fine but it doesn't seem to be possible to
download WMP8 from the Microsoft website.

I thought I'd fixed this problem by formatting my windows partition,
reinstalling XP than then doing all the upgraded SP2 included before
installing any of my applications.

Went to open a miniDV video this morning and now WMP9 plays the first 3/4 of
the video and then all I get is audio.
