I just got an eMachine with WinXP Home loaded. I added a D-link wireless G
card. I also have a laptop with Win98( first edition) and a Linksys wireless
B card and another desktop with Win98SE and attached to a Linksys wireless G
router.
When i added the XP desktop to the perfectly functioning wireless network,
it took a little while to get all of the computers to see each other. Right
now, all 3 can access the internet just fine, my 98SE desktop can see and
share files with both my laptop and my xp desktop. My laptop can see and
share files with both desktops -- it can also print using the network
printer. the xp desktop, however, can only see the notebook (win98) and not
the win98SE desktop at all and, consequently, cannot use the network printer
attached to that desktop. I can share files between the two by putting them
in the 'shared files' folder' but nothing else.
I have run the xp setup utility on all the computers, Sharing is enabled on
all of them ( i can actually see the shared printer on the laptop but cant
use it to access the network printer -- darn). i have tried all types of ways
of trying to get the xp to see the other desktop and its printer but to no
avail -- just doesn't want to happen...
