Hello,

when trying to use MSN Messenger on an Axim X5 / PPC 2003, after logon
attempt it comes back and says "Logon to MSN Messenger Service failed
because the service is not compatible with this version of the program". How
can I get that to work?

Any idea what to do if the current iPaq ROM has made MSN not open
without the patch, and with the patch it still wont sign in (incorrect
login it says)

Did you download and install the correct version of the patch?

I used the same version as I restored my iPaq using iPaq backup. The ROM
upgrade was suppose to fix the issue, so a patch shouldn't be required.
When I found MSN was not signing in, I removed the patch- and MSN
wouldn't start at all. If someone could point me in the direction of
registry values or something I'd quite hapily mess around until it works
but I have a feeling it will need anther hard reset and restore, but
without using iPaq backup like HP reccomend!

Thanks Neil,

what do you mean with microsoft.com? Did you know that microsoft.com is
quite extensive? ;-) I can't seem to find a MSN messenger version to update
a PPC 2003...

Any ideas?

Thanks!

um

Might have to try some 3rd party clients. Anyone know any?

Portrait seems to support chat to MSN messenger, with the added
advantage of audio and video chat if your network is up to it :
