So i bought a new pc with windows 8, which in my opinion is total garbage. I have a windows 7 dvd and i am having a very hard time booting from it, i managed to get in the boot menu by tapping F8 like crazy but i can't find the dvd drive in the list...how can i boot from this dvd?
Secure boot in UEFI will check the boot loader on the drive and compare it to the key stored in your hardware . This is to prevent rootkits, (but will also block some OS from being loaded) I would think you would have to disable the secure boot
to put boot a legacy OS like Win7 or linux. Even from a thumb or CD drive should fail as long as this check is enabled. Booting Win 8 from thumb or CD should work.
like i didn't try to do that the past 5 hours, i can't get the usual bios interface i'm used to and just change order, i have no idea what this UEFI *** is..this windows 8 makes me puke
It is not Win8 you are having the issue with it is the bios. UEFI bios will have separate boot orders for devises look a little deeper into boot structure for you particular system. If you have multiple hard drives it will have a separate boot sequence than general boot sequence.
