Hi all,

I just installed a Pioneer DVR-108 in my system and I am now experiencing
problems with DVD playback. Installed in the same machine is a Samsung
CD-RW/DVD player combo.

This seems like quite a weird problem because:

- When I try to play a DVD in either drive using PowerDVD XP 4 or Windows
Media Player, the system crashes
- I can copy a VOB file to the HDD with no problem, but PowerDVD crashes
when I try to play that VOB file too.
- When I try to run the PowerDVD diagnostic it crashes when it gets to the
UYVY test and also the YV12 test (I haven't tried any past that yet). The
test failed on the first thing it tried when I disabled DMA mode on this
device.
- PowerDVD was working fine before I installed the DVR-108
- Windows Media Player can still play MPGs/AVIs etc without crashing
- When a crash occurs on playback, I hear a clicking sound, repeated over
and over, around 2 clicks/second I think

This happens both when DMA mode is enabled and disabled.

My video card is an ATI Radeon 7000, running dual screens. Running Windows
XP SP1, P4 2.6Ghz, 512Mb RAM. I don't really want to use the Windows
Updates to get to SP2 because this (was) a stable system used for music
production and I have been avoiding making changes whereever I can :)

Any advice appreciated, any further system information can be posted by me!

Cheers,

Ben
