Video camera playback problem

Hi,

I have a Panasonic Video Camera NV-MX7a and afer switching it on after
2years okay, it will not show any video on playback or record altho' the
display says 'Record'

Even the timecode does not move when it is on play or FF/Rw.

It will however fast forward and rewind fine as I can hear the motor
etc, but can't hear much in play/record

Does this sound like a big problem? Any ideas
