Does anyone know if it's possible to work 4 monitors with 3 PCI cards and one
on-board video card?

First, some of the newer video cards have two outputs; one digital and one
analog so you may not need so many PCI cards.

Second, check your motherboard manual, some will not let you have the
on-board video work in conjunction with plug-in cards - AGP or PCI.
