Powershot S1 IS zoom question

For wide photos i think it would be good idea to buy extra wide lens. It has
26.6 mm and can focus from 0 to ....(measured from end of objective). But it
is 46mm long...
in any case, without any add-ons it can focus to appr. 3cm and makes as good
photo as it does when shooting normally.
